BADARUDHEEN Vs. STATE OF KERALA

Decided On July 25, 2018
Badarudheen Appellant
V/S
STATE OF KERALA Respondents

JUDGEMENT

(1.) The petitioner claims to be a social worker and a politician and has approached the court through this PIL to obstruct the demolition of the PWD Rest House at Tirur, where a new Rest House is to be constructed, by projecting the plea to be one which is purported to be associated with the cultural heritage of the Tirur Township.

(2.) Sri.Mohammed Iquabal, the learned counsel submits that this century old Rest House should be preserved and protected and if a new Rest House is necessary, the same can be constructed in some other place.

(3.) From the statement filed by the Assistant Executive Engineer of the PWD, Buildings Division, Tirur, it can be seen that the old Rest House is not fit for occupation and a new Rest House is decided to be constructed, by demolishing the old structure. The need for the new Rest House is projected on the basis of the fact that the Tirur Railway Station in Malappuram district is the nearest Railway Station and this Rest House is expected to provide occupation to Government officials and others, travelling to Tirur town and nearby areas, for official works.
