JUDGEMENT

(1.) The writ petitioners are the appellants before us. The writ petition was filed by players of Roll Ball game, for consideration of their selection in the Kerala State School Team for participation in the 63 rd National School Games held in December, 2017. It was contended by the petitioners that they have been prevented from participation in the National School Games, whereas the Kerala State Team had participated in such school games in the previous five years.

(2.) We have heard Sri. Biju Balakrishnan for the appellant and Smt. Latha Anand for the Kerala State Sports Council.

(3.) Opposing the petition, the Standing Counsel for the Kerala State Sports Council contended that the game of Roll Ball is not recognised by them and earlier the State School Team was sent for the National School Games only as a special case. It was also projected that only 19 sports disciplines are included in the Manual of the Kerala State Schools Athletics and Games Meet (hereinafter referred to as 'the manual') and the Roll Ball game is not amongst the games approved by the State Sports Council.
