PRIVATE ITI MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION Vs. UNION OF INDIA

Decided On October 15, 2012
Private Iti Management Association Appellant
V/S
UNION OF INDIA Respondents

JUDGEMENT

(1.) THE petitioners herein respectively are Private ITI Management Association represented by its President and an Institution represented by its Principal. The petitioners are seeking for a direction to respondents 1 to 3 to exempt the Industrial Training Institutes from implementing the IT Literacy Course (Basic Computer Course) to the trainees joining any trades, as Information Technology was made part of high school curriculum in the State of Kerala in the year 2003 itself. The petitioners have pointed out in the writ petition that pursuant to the decision in the 38th meeting of NCVT it has been decided to make IT Literacy Course compulsory for all the trainees in the Institutes and appropriate actions were taken. But it is pointed out that as far as Kerala is concerned, all the students have undertaken the course from 5th standard onwards and therefore it is pointed out that this is an aspect for examination since it is unnecessary for the students to undertake the said course again.

(2.) HEARD learned Assistant Solicitor General appearing for respondents 1 to 3. Ext. P9 is the detailed representation filed by the petitioners before the second respondent. There will be a direction to the second respondent to take a decision on Ext. P9 after hearing the first petitioner, within a period of three months from the date of production of a certified copy of this judgment along with a copy of the writ petition. All aspects will be considered in detail. The petitioners will have to produce the details regarding the courses undertaken by the candidates in Kerala including the curriculum and other matters.
