(1.) THE petitioner is aggrieved by the non consideration of various complaints with regard to the lack of basic amenities in the schools managed by the fifth respondent at Ambayathode. The schools mentioned in the writ petition are St. George L.P. School and U.P school. They are aided schools. It is averred in para.2 of the writ petition that in the U.P school there are 80 boy students and 89 girl students and in the L.P school there are 77 boys and 52 girls. The petitioner's complaints appear to be that the kitchen maintained by the two schools is so unhealthy and the storage place where the articles are kept for preparing food are untidy. Various other details have been stated in para.3 of the writ petition. Major complaint is that sufficient toilet facility is not there.
(2.) IT is stated that even though representations were filed before the Assistant Educational Officer, he had not taken any effective steps to redress the grievances and thereafter, the petitioner has approached the Director of Public Instruction as per Ext.P4. As the academic year is coming to an end, it is prayed that a direction may be issued to the respondents to rectify the defects, so that it can be rectified before the school re -opens during the next academic year. There will be a direction to the Director of Public Instruction to issue notice to the petitioner and the fifth respondent and after considering the representation Ext.P4, the same will be finally disposed of expeditiously, at any rate, before the start of the next academic year. It is open to the Director of Public Instruction to direct any subordinate officers in the concerned educational district to visit the school for conducting necessary inspection and to get a report with regard to the lack of facilities mentioned in the representation. The writ petition is disposed of as above. No costs.
