JUDGEMENT

(1.) UNIVERSITY of Kerala invited applications from qualified candidates for appointment to various posts including Lecturer in Demography, as per Exhibit P1 Notification. There was only one vacancy for the post of Lecturer in Demography. The petitioner applied to the post of Lecturer in Demography. It is stated that the petitioner is working as Lecturer in Demography in the UNIVERSITY on contract basis from 14.9.2010 onwards. The petitioner belongs to a Scheduled Caste. As per Exhibit P1 Notification issued by the UNIVERSITY, the turn of appointment to the only one post is shown as "S.C.". It is stated that the petitioner was the only person who applied to the said post. According to the petitioner, she is fully qualified to be appointed as Lecturer in Demography.

(2.) THE grievance of the petitioner is that though Exhibit P1 Notification was issued in 2007, steps for finalisation of the selection process have not been earnestly taken by the respondents. THE main relief sought for in the Writ Petition is to issue a direction to the respondents to finalise the selection process to the regular post of Lecturer in Demography.
