JUDGEMENT

(1.) EXT.R1(a) is a notification issued by the P.S.C. inviting applications for the post of Pharmacist Grade II in Ayurveda Colleges/Indian System of Medicine in Insurance Medical Services for district wise recruitments. Last date specified for submitting the application was 4.2.2009. According to the PSC, in view of the change in the Special Rules applicable to Indian Systems of Medicine Department, the last date for submitting applications was extended till 18.2.2009, as per EXT.R1(b) Erratum notification and EXT.P1 paper publication.

THE petitioners in these writ petitions submitted applications after 4.2.2009 but before 18.2.2009, thinking that all applicants are eligible for the benefit of the extended last date for submitting applications. However, their applications were rejected by the PSC for the reason that the applications were received only belatedly. According to the PSC, the benefit of extension given by Ext.R1(b) and Ext.P1 was applicable only for those candidates, who have completed 18 years as on 1.1.2008, and that the petitioners did not fall into this category.

IN view of the above, I direct that it will be open to the petitioners to highlight their grievances before the Secretary, Public Service Commission by filing an appropriate representation and if such a representation is made, the Secretary shall consider the same and pass orders therein. It is ordered that if any representation is received from the petitioners within three weeks from today the same will be considered and pass orders therein within six weeks thereafter. Writ petitions are disposed of as above.
